BRING DAS VELO NACH HAUSE

terra incogniita

ROTES VELO invites you on an odyssey through space and time, when fantastic creatures still served cartographers to represent unexplored territories....

"Hic sunt dracones" is the inscription that was originally used on medieval maps to denote unexplored areas. Dragons, sea snakes or other beasts were used by cartographers to push the feared myths on their maps to the periphery.

Unlike the medieval ones, our cartographers have a more cynical approach to the unknown:

the more we know and understand, the less space we leave on our maps for the imaginations and wonders of our world.

In TERRA INCOGNITA the main character leaves his familiar birthplace, following an oracular dream into the vast, unknown world. Fantastic creatures and mythical beings point the way in search of love, death and the meaning of life.

The piece is a poetic Odyssey, a "return trip", as an antidote, in which our maps are again populated with dragons, sea snakes and fantastic creatures.
