BRING DAS VELO NACH HAUSE

DIE TRAUMMASCHINE
A co-production with Lucerne Theatre and Tojo Reitschule Bern

The ROTES VELO company celebrates its tenth anniversary with a homage to dreams and theatrical lies. Dreams of friends and strangers, of artists and spectators are collected, interpreted and woven into the work. With a multidisciplinary team consisting of dancers, actors and a musician, the boundaries between truth and lies, between fantasy and reality are explored.

Tagblatt Zentralschweiz writes on the 14.05.2022

«"The Dreaming Machine" thrilled audiences at its premiere on Friday at the UG of the Lucerne Theatre with a great ensemble, whimsical puppets and stirring music.»

«The production teeters between poetic sequences with whimsical puppets, stylised nightmare scenarios and great dialogue that reminds you of Fassbinder films in the best moments.»

«...absolutely successful and detailed production...»

«Grotesque ideas, colourful costumes and a great ensemble make "Die Traummaschine" an experience.»

«In a way, the heart of this absolutely successful and detailed production by the Argentine director Emilio H. Díaz Abregú are the puppets: life-size figures with oversized heads, tiny wooden bending dolls and headless toy dolls.»

«Efficiency instead of passion", as Fellini accuses his crew of, is not to be felt here. »

«Co-operations like this seem to suit the Lucerne theatre well and one wishes for more of them.»

ABOUT THE PIECE

First day of shooting: The director comes to the set. He has decided to realise a long-awaited and repeatedly postponed project. Fundamental fears of failure torment and inhibit him. Should he postpone the film again and wait for the right time?

And so he persists once again. The film team has the impression that the director is suffering from a creative blockade and tries to get the shoot going, drawing inspiration from the director's earlier films and his dream diaries. The latter are full of contradictory ideas, irrational images and notes that could have come from a madman. Or from a great honest liar who, out of politeness, entertains people with ever new truth. The film team follows the dreamer and ventures from one fast-paced lie to another.
